On February 23rd, 1945, 6 United States Marines raised the flag on Mount Suribachi of Iwo Jima Island showing the capture of that mountain a goal that was met 4 days after the battle had started, the battle continued for many days until Iwo Jima was secure 31 days later on March 26th, 1945.
